With the tragic death of 29 year old Jennifer McKenna Morbelli on February 7, 2013 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, MD, after the abortion of her 33 week gestation baby by Dr. LeRoy Carhart at his clinic in Germantown, MD, I share both the sadness and outrage of many.
It has come to my attention that the Maryland Coalition of Life has have been warning county and state officials about the dangers of late term abortions since Dr. Carhart opened his practice in Germantown in December, 2010.
Sadly, Jennifer McKenna Morbelli need not have died, especially since it has now been published that the Maryland medical examiner says she died as a result of the abortion she received.
I urge Maryland Board of Physicians to revoke the medical license of Dr. LeRoy Carhart.
Flying in from another state and leaving immediately after the procedure, as Dr. Carhart does, is an unsafe and dangerous way to practice medicine. It is reported that while Jennifer Morbelli was still recovering from her surgical procedure at a Maryland hotel, Dr. Carhart had already left the state and was unable to provide any aftercare or be reached for advice. This is an unsafe and dangerous way to practice medicine in the state of Maryland. As long as Dr. Carhart remains licensed to practice here in Maryland he presents an ongoing risk to women.
Again, I urge Maryland Board of Physicians to revoke the medical license of Dr. LeRoy Carhart.
